Every year at the beginning of June, most of the premises of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Nis – halls, classrooms, other rooms and even corridors become exhibition spaces where students of the Department of Fine Arts and the Department of Applied Arts of all study levels present their final works. The works were done in various techniques, from traditional to modern, including those that have been awarded at important world competitions. This year, the global virus pandemic prevented us from continuing the tradition, so this time we are moving to the virtual spaces of the Faculty of Arts. Different directions of creative thinking of students will be presented through a virtual exhibition that will be available on the website of the FU Exhibition Season from Monday, June 15, 2020 at 12 noon.

Students, pupils and artists from all over the world participated in the first International Internet Competition “Constantine the Great”.Apart from a large number of competitors from Serbia, competitors from all over the world took part – Russia, Italy, Germany, United Arab Emirates, Greece, Sweden, Slovenia, Northern Macedonia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Latvia, Albania, Ukraine, Bulgaria… The eminent Jury had high criteria and objectivity in evaluating more than 150 competitors and awarded 25 first prizes and 6 laureates. This year’s of the Grand Prix winner is ​​Nikola Varžić from Slovenia.

As the completion of the Competition annual cycle, a Gala concert of the laureates and the winnersof the Competition has been planned to be organized in honour of the City of Niš celebration – St. Emperor Constantine and Empress Helena. However, due to the circumstances related to the COVID-19 virus, this year’s Laureates and awarded artists will present themselves with videos on the official YouTube channel of the Competition.

The graphics of the students of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, Martina Djordjević, Natalija Djordjević, Stefana Jovanović, Mina Živić and Teodora Nikolić, have been included in the exhibition ” May Graphic Exhibition “ of the Graphic Collective Gallery in Belgrade for 2020 year. Also, the participants in this year’s exhibition are the teachers of the Faculty of Arts in Niš. prof. Bojan Živić, MA, prof. Slobodan Radojković, PhD and Jovana Djordjević, MA, Associate.

Exhibition of the doctoral art project entitled “DECOMPOSITION” – Representations of traces of devastation and ephemerality through a series of graphics and works on handmade paper, by Jovana Djordjević, MA, Associate, was opened on 13^th May  at the FLU Gallery, Belgrade (Knez Mihailova 53). The exhibition will last until 30^th May  2020, on workingdays from 11 am to 4 pm and on Saturdays from 11 am to 2 pm.

“Third Person”, a virtual solo exhibition of photographs by Miljan Nedeljković, Associate professor – from the cycle “Faces”, was opened on 1^st April 2020, on the portal of the Virtual Gallery – Sales Gallery “Belgrade”. The exhibition will last until 1^st May 2020.

Jovana J. Jovanović, a flute student in the class of Jelena Jakovljević, DA, Assistant professor, won III prize at “Tahir Kulenović” Flutist Festival in Valjevo, as well as III prize at “Davorin Jenko” International Competition in Belgrade. Congratulations!

Nina Lazović, a flute student in the class of Jelena Jakovljević, DA, Assistant professor, won II prize at “Davorin Jenko” International Competition in Belgrade. Congratulations!

Out. prof. spec. Miloš Mijatović, spec, Associate professor, visited Cyprus from 6-10th March 2020, at the invitation of his colleague, Professor Georg Georgiou, and held several master classes and lectures in Nicosia, Limassol and Paphos with his colleague Aleksandar Tasić, full professor at the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad.

Ljubinko Lazić, MA, Associate professor, will participate in the work of the jury at International Double Bass Competition, which will be held from 13th to 17th April 2020 in Istanbul.

Out. prof. spec. Miloš Mijatović, spec, Associate professor, held an intensive master course, lecture and presentation in the period from 3-6^th March 6 2020, at the invitation of Janacek Music Academy in Brno, the Czech Republic.
