VII National Scientific Conference with International Participation BARTF 2019
The Faculty of Arts, University of Niš, with the Branch of SASA in Niš, is organizing VII national scientific conference with international participation with the theme “Art and Culture Today: Metaphor, Perception and Symbolism” on October 4th-5th, 2019 in Niš. This year’s problematic framework of the scientific conference consists of three parts: metaphor, perception, symbolism. The opening ceremony of the scientific conference will be held on October 4th, 2019, at noon in the University of Niš Great Hall with welcoming words by Suzana Kostić, PhD, Dean of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, Danijela Stojanović, PhD, President of the Program Committee of Balkan Art Forum 2019, Academician Ninoslav D. Stojadinović, President of the SASA Branch in Niš. After the welcoming speech, the Forum will be officially opened by Dragan Antić, PhD, Rector of the University of Niš. Plenary lectures will be given by dr Trena Jordanoska, from the Faculty of Music Art in Skopje, Northern Macedonia, with the theme “Music in Practice – Metaphor, Perception, Symbolism”, followed by dr Ioannis Tsoumas from the University of Western Attica, Athens, Greece on “Cultural Symbolism in Traditional Japanese floral motifs” and Jelena M. Sredanović, from the Academy of Arts, Novi Sad, “Woodcut as an Art Language”. The Forum will take place through several sessions at the Faculty of Arts in Niš, and the detailed program can be seen HERE. As part of the artistic program of this year’s Forum, Desislava Hristova, PhD Fine Art Graphic Artist, Sofia, Bulgaria and Slobodan Radojković, graphic artist, Niš, Serbia will present their creative opus. The presentations are scheduled for Friday, October 4th, 2019 at 8 pm in the Faculty of Arts Concert Showroom, Knjazevačka 2a. The attendance is free of charge. Guitar students concert at a Festival in Bulgaria
A quartet of guitars “4G’s” composed of: Miloš Vuković, Stefan Milenković, Pavle Žarkić and Stefan Dejanović, in the class of prof. Bratislav Zlatković, performed at a very successful whole-night concert at the “International Youth Arts Festival Via Pontica” in Balchik, Bulgaria. Prof. Zlatković participated as a mentor of the workshop on XII Festival edition, which lasted from 10th to 18th September.
Works of the Faculty of Arts Students at S.U.T.R.A. Festival in Belgrade
Student art works dedicated to science, created within the course Graphic Communications at the Department of Applied Arts of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, under the mentorship of prof. Anita Milić and ass. Dr. Miljana Radenković, PhD Assistant were presented at the exhibition “In the Name of the Algorithm”, as part of the Festival S.U.T.R.A. 2019, dedicated to the blend of art, technology, variety and authenticity, held at the Museum of Science and Technology in Belgrade, September 10th-23th, 2019.
The S.U.T.R.A. Festival, the oldest festival in Serbia dedicated to the blend of art, science and technology, is marking its 10th anniversary this year, providing new perspectives necessary for the development of society, asking questions, criticizing, offering answers, provoking and motivating.

Tijana Borić, PhD at 14th International DDD Conference in England
Tijana Borić, PhD Assistant professor, participated from September 4th-7th, 2019 at 14th International Biennial DDD Conference organized by ASDS bringing together numerous international multidisciplinary experts, researchers of the social context of death. This year, the theme of the conference was “Engagement and Education”, hosted by the University of Bath, England. The biennial gathering brought together about 130 international researchers and professors from 30 countries around the world who are actively engaged in promoting and studying the phenomenon of death in the arts, humanities and other related sciences. Tijana Borić, PhD successfully presented a paper entitled “The Political Economy of Death and the Concept of King’s Two Bodies: The Funeral of King Aleksandar Karadjordjevic I in 1934” which is the result of a collaboration with her colleague Dr. Igor Borozan, Associate professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade.

Solo exhibition of Slobodan Radojković, PhD in Kragujevac
Solo exhibition of Drawings, Graphics and Objects from the cycle “Sekura domo” by Slobodan Radojković, PhD Associate professor will be held on Thursday, September 19th, 2019 in the Small Art Salon of the National Museum in Kragujevac. The setting is part of a poetic whole considering the existence of the individual, the need to define our own home, and migration as our reality.
Concert by pianist Miloš Pavlović at the Faculty of Arts Concert Showroom
Miloš Pavlović, Belgrade pianist, will perform a piano recital on Monday, September 16th, 2019, at 7 pm in the Faculty of Arts Concert Showroom, Knjazevačka 2a. The program features pieces by Scarlatti, Haydn and Rachmaninoff. The entrance to the concert is free.
