At the jubilee 25th International Competition of Solo Singer “Nikola Cvejić” in Ruma, from 24th to 25th November 2023, the Faculty of Arts in Niš students and alumni in the class of prof. Katarina Simonović Ivanković, MA, participated.

The most complex competition for solo singers of lower, high music schools and faculties is certainly “Nikola Cvejić” competition. It bears the name of the Serbian opera scene and pedagogy giant. It was founded by his students in 1997 and every year it gathers a large number of pupils, students and professors of music schools and faculties from the whole region, thus creating a unique space for observing the development of the vocal profession at all levels. The competition gives to young artists- in addition to the opportunity to hear a lot of new things, evaluation and present their levels of achievement- an opportunity to receive one of the numerous valuable prizes that further motivate them.

This year too, our Faculty solo singing students, our young hopes, returned from Ruma with prizes and valuable experience:

Luka Marković, III year student – I prize, 97 points (II category) and

Nikola Stamenković, IV year student. – II prize, 90.25 points (III category).

The special feature of this competition is the laureates’ concert, at which all previous laureates performed, including Faculty alumni Nikola Mikić, who at the time of winning this award (in 2014) was also in the class of prof. Katarina Simonović Ivanković.
