Exhibition of paintings “The Escape” by Aleksandar Marković, the final year student of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, in the class of prof. Katarina Djordjević, MA will be opened on Saturday, 12th May 2018, at 6 pm in the Office for Youth in the Officer,s House (Orlovića Pavla 28a street).
The exhibition includes an entire cycle of paintings inspired by the theme of the Red Cross camp during the Second World War. It shows the most important figures and events that marked the period of the Second World War in this camp, with a special emphasis on the escape of prisoners on 12th February 1942, whereby this camp is unique in the world.
The author’s basic idea was to show the psychological conditions of the tortured prisoners and their need for freedom, which gave them superhuman power to withstand torture and save their lives.
The opening will be accompanied by a selected music program performed by Faculty of Arts in Niš students from the Music Department: Andjela Stanković – piano, Jovana Pavlović – violin and Dejana Radanović – accordion.
