FRANC CURK

FRANC CURK, Ph.D (1949), graduated in 1972 at the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana, in the class of prof. Gabrijel Stupica. He finished his post-graduate studies at the Department of Conservation and Restoration, in the class of prof. Mirko Šubic in 1974 at the same Academy. In 1979 gained a PhD title of the art-technological sciences. He is working as a professor at the Faculty of Arts in Niš. He is a member of the Association of Conservators of Serbia, the Slovenian Conservation Society and the Association Conservator, International Council of Museums (ICOM), ETN (Europian Textile Network), the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS), the Association of Independent Architectural Photographers (A.I.A.P.), the Union of the Societes of the Fine Artists of Slovenia, the Fine Artists Association of Ljubljana, the Association of the Artists of electronic media and the Group Arte. He has had 68 solo exhibitions and participated in 323 group exhibitions in the country and abroad and has received numerous prizes and awards for his artistic work. He has published two books, 82 professional papers, 22 essays and art reviews, and also 8 translations. He has actively participated in 12 international symposia and delivered 20 lectures at the artistic and scientific forums. He has led 22 research projects. He has conserved 14 immovable cultural monuments and thousands of movable cultural monuments in the country and abroad. His works are present in numerous public and private collections in the country and abroad. 280 bibliographic units were published about the work of Franc Curk, Ph.D and 10 major units are: in 1972- the Students, Prešern Prize, Ljubljana, Slovenia; in 1977- the Dyplom honorowy at 10th Ogólnopolski Plener przemyslowy, Katowice, Poland; in 1982-the Award at the Internationale di Grafica-Intergraf, Udine, Italy; in 1986- the Award at the 19th Herceg Novi Winter Salon, Herceg Novi, Montenegro; in 1989-Honory mention, Prix Ars Electronica 89, ORF, Linz, Austria; in 1989- the Award of 4th International Biennial Print Exhibit: in 1989 ROC, Taipei, the Republic of China; in 1990- I award, Digitart, Budapest, Hungary; in 1991-Golden Needle, the Spring Exhibition of the Association of Fine Artists of Serbia (ULUS) and the Union of Fine Artists of Vojvodina (ULUV), Belgrade, Serbia – the most prestigious guild award for graphics by ULUS and ULUV; In 1996, he received the highest award for his conservation work of the Association of Conservators of Serbia; in 2012 – the Grand Award of the Art Center, Belgrade, Serbia.
