Within the Erasmus+ project, prof. Emmanouil St. Giannopoulos from Thessaloniki, Greece held two lectures at the Faculty of Arts in Niš, at the Department of Fine Arts premises. The first lecture on “The Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Orthodox chant: Great Composers and Significant Compositions” was held on Tuesday, November 7th, 2017, while the lecture on “The Orthodox Church Music: Theory, Notation, Performance” was presented on Friday, November 10th, 2017. The basic elements of modern Byzantine music theory, the function of its notation, various music genres, eight modalities of church music, modulation, were presented.
