ŠERIF DAMADŽIĆ

ŠERIF DAMADŽIĆ, MA (1953), graduated at Department of Theory at the Music Academy in Sarajevo and obtained his MA degree in Choral conducting at the Faculty of Music Arts in Skoplje, in the class of prof. Dragan Šuplevski. He has started his pedagogical work at Secondary Music School Stanislav Binički in Leskovac, then worked at the Faculty of Arts of the University of Priština with a residence in Zvečan. Since 2002, he has worked at the Faculty of Arts in Niš as a full professor. His artistic career is based on working with choral ensembles and also on being a founder and the conductor of the Chamber String Orchestra Amoroso. He has received many prestigious prizes and social awards, among which are:  I Award and Golden plaque at International choral festival in Celje (1987); Two I awards at Yugoslav Choral Festival (JHS) in Niš (1996); he is a winner of choral competition of 31st Mokranjac,s Days in Negotin (1996); Two October Prizes of the city of Leskovac, in 1983 and 1996 for the exceptional contribution to music culture; the Golden Badge of Cultural Educational Society of Serbia; the Diplomas of Music Youth of Serbia and Music Youth of Belgrade. He has performed at over 100 hundred concerts in the country and abroad, among which are participations in prestigious national and international festivals, such as: Belgrade Music Festival (BEMUS), Niš International Music Festival (NIMUS), the Mokranjac’s Days, the International Festival  Art and Culture-Porto Heli, Greece. He has cooperated with many soloists, recorded material for Phono Archives of Radio-Belgrade, Radio-Leskovac, Radio Television Serbia. In 2005, the first CD of the Chamber orchestra Amoroso was published by the Society of Radio and TV stations of Serbia. He has often been a jury member at national and federal competitions, festivals, reviews and tournaments for pupils and students of Music at- Solfeggio and Choir, organized in Belgrade, Novi Pazar, Kragujevac, Niš, Leskovac. His devoted and prolific pedagogical work has resulted in two textbooks: The Collection of melodic examples with piano accompaniment, in edition of the Faculty of Arts in Priština, Solfeggio four-vocal examples of instrumental, vocal and instrumental – vocal literature, published by the Faculty of Arts in Niš, as well as his work published in Collection VIII of Pedagogical forum entitled Tacting and conducting in the function of artistic interpretation.
