SLOBODAN JELESIJEVIĆ

SLOBODAN JELESIJEVIĆ (1951), graduated from the Department of Graphics at the Faculty of Applied Arts in Belgrade in 1977, in the class of prof. Miloš Ćirić and prof. Stjepan Fileki. He was elected the Assistant professor in 2004 and in title of the Associate professor in 2009 for the narrow artistic field of the expert course of Graphic design– Spatial Graphics at the Department of Applied Arts of the Faculty of Arts in Niš. He has been the member of the Association of Applied Arts Artists and Designers of Serbia (ULUPUDUS) since 1977. He has had 13 solo exhibitions and over 150 group exhibitions in the country and abroad. He won 13 national and international awards for his work in the field of fine and applied arts: the Second Prize of the Association of Economic Advertisers of Yugoslavia in 1981; the Grand Prix for packaging, at Novi Sad Fair, Novi Sad, in 1987; the Third Prize at Zmaj,s children games for the picture book The Forest world and a seal, The Kids newspaper (Dečje novine), Novi Sad, in 1990; the Third Prize at the Book Fair for a picture book The Forest world and a seal, The Kids newspaper (Dečje novine), Belgrade, in 1990; the Golden Medal Eureka 99 for the marks, Brussels, Belgium; the First prize at the 3rd November Salon in 2003, Kraljevo; the First Prize at the 12th Exhibition of Small Formats, the Cultural Center, Šabac, in 2003. The artworks in the field of lettering are in the collection of Klingspor – museum, Ofembah, Germany. The Illustrations are in the collection of The Museum of World ‘s Illustration at Glowinskis’ Library, Olesnica, Poland. The artworks from the collection Significantly in the Collection of the Museum of Applied Arts, Belgrade. Since 2007, he has cooperated with Monotype Imaging and ITC, USA, designing typefaces. The Letters ITC PINO and ITC NEW LINETA are in the catalogue Typeface Catalog A-Z, Monotype, Linotype and ITC, USA. He is one of the founders of the workshop for designing typefaces, TOUR DE FORCE FONT FOUNDRY. Realized typefaces: ITC PINO, ITC NEW LINETA, SHAPE, SHAPE SERIF, SHAPE CLASSIC, DEMIS, BELCO, SPACING, SQUARE, VEZUS and SIGN SIMBOLS. His works were published in books, textbooks, magazines and websites: 26+30 LETTERING, the history of lettering and typography, of the author Stjepan Fileki, published by the University of Arts, Belgrade, in 2010; SIGNIFICANTLY 3, a book of signs, of the author Radomir Vuković, published by the Official Gazette, Belgrade, in 2011; the Animation at the Faculty of Applied Arts, of the author Rastko Ćirić, published by the Faculty of Applied Arts- FPU and the Yugoslav Film Archive, Belgrade, in 2011.
