The mosaics of the Department of Fine Arts students – Kristina Jovanović, Sofija Kovačević, Vanja Radojičić and Jovana Djurić, created under the mentorship of Maja Djurović, Assistant professor, within the course Wall Painting, were exhibited at the international event “Belgrade Mosaic Festival”, which is held in the Heritage House (Knez Mihailova street no. 46) during the period 18th January to 9th February 2022.

In addition to the mosaics “Indifference of Surrender” by Kristina Jovanović, “Bush” by Sofija Kovačević, “Landscape” by Vanja Radojičić and “Self-Portrait” by Jovana Djurić, over 100 works by 84 authors from Serbia, Austria and Bulgaria were exhibited.

The Belgrade Mosaic Festival was founded as an international event with the intention of emphasizing the importance of mosaics as a contemporary art painting technique; to show all the important trends in modern mosaic expression; as well as to present the most significant mosaic achievements on the current art scene. Derived from Petar Vujošević’s author project – the exhibition Small Format Mosaic, which was established in 2006 in Belgrade, and which has been held traditionally for ten years, the first Belgrade Mosaic Festival was established in Belgrade in 2016.

The festival was established with the idea of promoting the true artistic achievements of mosaic expression, as opposed to the profanation and industrialization of mosaics, which obscure the meaning of dealing with mosaics, reducing it to mere technology and formalism.
