The awarding committee for the Award “Svetislav Milić – to young people from the heart” made an unanimous decision that the award in the field of institutions of the year will be shared by – Čačak Talent Center and the Faculty of Arts in Niš. According to the commission’s decision, special awards were distributed to – Kristina Vasić, a young saxophonist from Paraćin, who being 10 years old has achieved something that many do not achieve in a lifetime, Mladen Mitrović, a doctoral student at the Faculty of Tourism Studies in Portorož, and Sandra Veljković – a doctoral student at the Faculty of Electronics, University of Belgrade. Dr Marija Mijajlović from Kuršumlija received the Medal of Humanity. By decision of the board of directors of H.O. “Find Raul”, the Plaque of Peace is awarded to Stefan Jović, a celebrated basketball player and to Elementary and High schools “Creative Pen” from Belgrade.
Commendation to the Faculty of Arts in Niš for participating in founding and implementation of the Hammer Piano Festival
The Faculty of Arts, as a partner of the “Hammer Piano” festival, received the Commendation for participating in founding and implementation of the first edition of this international festival, organized on the initiative of the Faculty of Arts Assistant, Stefan Sretić, DMA and with the participation of distinguished pianists from the country and abroad. The Commendation was received by Prof. DMA Milena Injac, the Faculty Dean.
Concert of Faculty of Arts in Niš teachers, associates and students with the Niš Symphony Orchestra
Under the conductorship of prof. DMA Milena Injac, spec. Bojan Mladenović, piano associate, Marko Milisavljević, bass, associate at Department of Solo Singing and Damjan Mišić, solo-singing student, together with soloists from N. Macedonia: violinist Sanja Šuplevska-Boiral and bassoonist Orce Ickoski performed the piece “Turkish March” from the ballet “Gentleman Squire” by Jean-Baptiste Lilly. Saška Stojanov Krstić, Niš Symphony Orchestra violist, performed with soloists from Skopje and the Faculty of Arts. Tomislav Zografski’s “Suite for Strings” was premiered at the concert in the presence of members of the “Zografski Foundation”, led by Panda Zografski Belichanec. The rest of the program included: A. Vivaldi- Concerto grosso no. 3 and B. Britten- Simple Symphony. The concert was extremely well received by the audience.
I and III prizes for the posters of students Marija Milosavljević and Andrijana Jovanović at XIV International Merlinka Film Festival competition
Marija Milosavljević and Andrijana Jovanović, fourth-year students of the Department of Applied Arts, are the winners of I and III prizes at the poster competition of XIV International Merlinka Film Festival, which will be held in December 2022 at Belgrade Youth Center and Novi Sad Cultural Center. The slogan of this year’s festival is “Acta, non verba”; the winning work will be the official poster of XIV Merlinka festival and the front page of the festival catalog. Congratulations! The posters were created under the mentorship of prof. DA Slavica Dragosavac and Assistant DA Miljana Radenković.
Participation of Faculty of Arts in Niš students and associates at FLUID – Regional Awards for Young Designers 2022 in Montenegro
The works of the fourth-year students of Graphic Design, Marta Pejčić and Jana Janjić, as well as the works of Assistant DA Miljana Radenković, were selected among 39 posters for this year’s exhibition at FLUID – Regional Awards for Young Designers – Poster / LEGO ERGO SUM / 2022 in Montenegro. Student works were realized in the course Poster under the mentorship of prof. DA Slavica Dragosavac, Assistant DA Jovana Nikolić and Assistant DA Miljana Radenković.

The series of posters by Teodora Nikolić, a student of master of academic studies in Graphic Design at Department of Applied Arts, was selected for the exhibition of the Annual World Design Competition in the category of student works of visual communication, in Australia from 7th December 2022 to 27th January 2023, in competition from 2860 applications from over 50 countries. The series of posters for the furniture fair was created under the mentorship of prof. DA Slavica Dragosavac and Assistant DA Miljana Radenković.
The participation of Teodora Nikolić at III International Exhibition of Facing Student Posters in Tarnovo
Teodora Nikolić, a student of master academic studies in Graphic Design, is this year’s participant in III International Student Poster Exhibition, which presents an analysis of trends related to the development of posters and visual communications, as well as the diversity of curricula. At the exhibition opened in the month of May in Tarnovo cultural center, organized by the Art Department at the Academy of Applied Sciences in Tarnovo, 250 posters and 25 animated works were selected in competition from over 900 applications from more than 15 countries. A series of theatrical and promotional posters for the furniture fair realized in the course Poster under the mentorship of prof. DA Slavica Dragosavac, Assistant DA Jovana Nikolić and Assistant DA Miljana Radenković were realized.
Violin student Lazar Mutavdzić performed as a representative of Serbia at the concert of young talents in Mostar
Lazar Mutavdzić, a second-year violin student at the Faculty of Arts, University of Niš, in the class of prof. Marija Rajković, performed as a representative of Serbia at the traditional concert of young talents on 24th October 2022 in Mostar (Bosnia and Herzegovina), as a soloist with the National Mostar Symphony Orchestra; performing a piece by Pablo de Sarasate was accompanied by a standing ovation.
Great success of our accordion students at Accordion World Cup in Switzerland
Drago Garić, the Faculty of Arts in Niš master student, in the class of Associate prof. Nikola Peković, won II place at 75th Accordion World Cup, which was held from 4th to 9th October 2022, in Zoffingen, Switzerland. This competition is one of the most prestigious world events for the accordion, being an official partner of UNESCO, and every year held in a different country. Also, Veljko Milojković, the Faculty of Arts in Niš master student, in the class of full prof. Miljan Bjeletić, won V place, while Stefan Velevski, the Faculty of Arts in Niš master student, in the class of Associate prof. Nikola Peković, won XII place. The competition was great, especially in the Masters category, where the largest number of competitors were registered, and in which our students also competed. With these successes, the continuity of winning prestigious awards at the world’s largest accordion competitions was continued, and thus once again confirmed the highest quality of pedagogy and performance of the Faculty of Arts in Niš professors and students. Faculty of Arts in Niš students at the international exhibition “Small Format Mosaic 17”
The international exhibition “Small Format Mosaic”, author’s project by Petar Vujošević, was opened on 20th October 2022 in the Small Gallery of ULUPUDS, Uzun Mirko str. no 12 in Belgrade. This exhibition has been held regularly since 2006 as an annual mosaic exhibition, which makes it a rarity not only in our country, but also in the region. Over the past 17 years, over 300 authors from 20 countries have participated in these exhibitions. It was achieved not only the mutual acquaintance of various mosaic scenes and many interesting creators, but also the interweaving and creative mixing and influence of each other. Thus, the age modern mosaic is a new iinclination and incentive, not only in Serbia but also much wider. This time, 55 authors from Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Croatia and Serbia will present their works. Students of the bachelor and master academic studies of Painting at the Faculty of Arts in Niš also participate in the exhibition: Darko Stefanović with the “Velaskez” mosaic, Natalija Stamenković with the “Landscape” mosaic, Nikola Milanov with the “Apples” mosaic, Helena Cvetković with the “Plaza” mosaic, Jovana Djurić with the “Self Portrait” mosaic and Aleksandra Stojanović – the winner of the award “Borislav Boro Nježić” for the most successful student work for the “Alienated” mosaic. The exhibition will be open until 3rd November 2022.
