Elizabeta Marinković, a fourth-year student of the underegraduate academic studies in the class of DA Stevan Spalević, Assoc. Prof. won III prize (70 points) in category VII at II International Pianist Competition BIMC, which was held from 20th to 25th May 2026 in Bijeljina (Bosnia and Herzegovina).
On Monday, June 1, 2026, an exhibition of works by teachers and associates of the Faculty of Arts, University of Niš, entitled “Transpositions – Places of Exchange of Styles and Forms” will open. The exhibition will open at 6 p.m. at the Nikola Tesla University Library in Niš and will present different approaches to contemporary art and design practice through a dialogue of media, styles and visual forms.
Students of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, Jana Djokić and Luka Petrović, a guitar duo in the class of full professor Ana Velicković-Igić, won I prize, with a maximum of 100 points, at the just-concluded International Naissus Guitar Festival.

Joshua Orsburn, a visual artist and master printer at the Flatbed Press Graphic Studio in Austin (USA), will be visiting the Faculty of Arts in Niš, where he will give a lecture on his poetics, technical aspects of graphic art and professional activities in the studio in which he is engaged. The meeting with students and teachers of the Faculty will be held on Wednesday, 27th May at 2 pm in the premises of the Graphics Department at “Njegoš” Elementary School, Pantelejska 60.
The chamber duo “Ad Libitum”, consisting of Iva Vićentijević and Strahinja Marković, fourth-year students in the class of assoc. prof. Ingrid Janković, performed at the opening of the fourth BN Klasik Fest in Bijeljina. The concert entitled “Young on Stage” featured performers from Bijeljina, Banja Luka, Novi Sad and Niš. The II BIMC, the International Competition for Young Pianists, was also held as part of the festival, where the same ensemble won I place (99.33 points) in the category − Piano Duo.

As part of the international student mobility, the Faculty of Arts in Niš will host doctoral student Angel Spiroski from the Faculty of Music (FMU) of the University of “Saints Cyril and Methodius” in Skopje. Angel Spiroski will give a lecture on the topic: “Folklore in Contemporary Classical Music – Models of Integration”.

About the Festival:
The international music festival “Concertante and Friends” was created with the idea of bringing together young artists and affirming their creativity through joint music making, exchange of experiences and direct meeting with the audience. At the center of the festival is the Chamber Orchestra “Concertante”, as a representative ensemble of the Faculty of Arts in Niš and an important platform for the artistic development of students and young musicians. The Chamber Orchestra “Concertante”, whose founder and artistic director is Maestra DMA Milena Injac, brings together the most promising students and provides them with a space to gain valuable performing experience, work with conductors and soloists, as well as foster the spirit of the ensemble, which is key to professional musical maturation. Through intensive work and public performances, students have the opportunity to present their knowledge and talent to a wider audience and to actively engage in contemporary musical life. The special value of the festival is given by the Faculty of Arts in Niš professors, as well as eminent artists – guests of the festival, who significantly contribute to its importance with their experience, artistic authority and pedagogical work. Through joint performances, workshops and masterclasses, a valuable dialogue between generations is achieved, in which knowledge is transferred directly, through practice and joint creation. The “Concertante and Friends” festival thus becomes a meeting place for different artistic sensibilities – a place where the energy of young performers and the experience of established artists intertwine. The program includes representative works of classical literature, but also contemporary author projects, encouraging creativity and opening up space for new artistic voices. In this sense, the festival goes beyond the framework of a concert event and grows into a significant educational and artistic platform, which actively contributes to the development of the music scene and the affirmation of future generations of artists. “Concertante and Friends” is a space of unity, exchange and inspiration – a place where art lives through encounter, cooperation and continuity.
