“Printmaking and drawing” – Exhibition of student works

This year, too, the cooperation of the higher education institutions of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, Academy of Arts Novi Sad and the Faculty of Fine Arts Belgrade was successfully achieved in the form of a joint exhibition of students attending the course of Printmaking as a regular or elective.

Exhibitions are held every academic year, and this year the hosts are students and professors of the Academy of Arts Novi Sad.

33 students from the Faculty of Arts in Niš, 11 students from the Faculty of Fine Arts in Belgrade, and 64 students from the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad are participating in the exhibition entitled “Printmaking and Drawing”.

The exhibition shows a wide range of poetics and different approaches in all graphic techniques, as well as drawing as a starting point.

The goal of this cooperation is the affirmation of students as young artists at the beginning of their creative journey, an incentive for further work and their motivation for future connections with colleagues.

Exhibition of art works by the Faculty of Arts in Niš students in the “Ginko” gallery of the Faculty of Pedagogical Sciences in Jagodina

Exhibition of art works by 3rd-year students of the Faculty of Arts in Niš.  It was installed on 17th March 2023 in the “Ginko” gallery at the Faculty of Pedagogical Sciences in Jagodina. Within the framework of the exhibition “Motif – transposition through art techniques”, works created within the course Methodology of art education 1, led by PhD Mia Arsenijević, Associate professor, were presented.

The works of students Olga Arsić, Sara Bogdanović, Miljana Dimitrijević, David Živić, Anja Janković, Lana Jovanović, Mila Knežević, Jelena Malikov, Anastasija Milićević, Mateja Milošević, Aleksandra Milutinović, Ana Mitrović, Martina Momčilović, Anja Naumović, Vera Nikolić, Jovana Petrović, Danica Stojanović, Marija Tatić and Lana Jovanović will be available to the audience until 7th April 2023.

Lazar Mutavdžić won II prize at IMMC competition Moscow 2023

At IMMC competition Moscow 2023, student Lazar Mutavdžić won II prize. Fifteen-year-old Lazar is a second-year violin student at the Faculty of Arts, University of Niš, in the class of Associate professor Marija Rajković, MA. This result was achieved with the piano accompaniment by Senka Simonović, MA.

Master class in chamber music by Mirjana Nešković, Assistant professor

The Faculty of Arts of the University of Niš, as part of the Spring Workshop for Chamber Music, is organizing a masterclass by Mirjana Nešković, Assistant professor at the Department of Chamber Music at the Faculty of Philology and Arts in Kragujevac. The masterclass will be held on 31st March from 11 AM to 6 PM, and the participants’ concert at 7 PM, in the Faculty of Arts in Niš Concert-Exhibition Hall. Ensembles from the Department of Chamber Music can register for the masterclass by sending an email to the Department of Chamber Music head, prof. Dragana Djordjević, MA at dragana.djordjevic@live.com. The number of places for candidates to apply is limited.

Prof. MA Katarina Djordjević, realized mobility at Sofia University “St. Kliment of Ohrid”, Faculty of Pedagogy and Arts, Sofia, Bulgaria

Prof. MA Katarina Djordjević, stayed at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, at the Faculty of Pedagogy and Arts, Department of Visual Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria within the framework of Erasmus + mobility for teachers. She gave a lecture “Interpretation of visual tradition: Meeting of traditional crafts and contemporary art”. Students and teachers of the Department of Visual Arts are presented to be familiar with different experiences of using archeological material and traditional heritage, as well as with possible interpretations in contemporary works of art, based on postmodern experiences.

Prof. MA Katarina Djordjević, exhibited drawings from the series “I look at the river and think of the sea” in FNOI Gallery, Department of Visual Arts, and the exhibition opened on 7th March 2023.

Teachers, associates and students were informed about various opportunities for cooperation that can take place under the auspices of Erasmus + mobility and within the framework of inter-institutional exchanges of artistic, professional and scientific contents. Joint artistic and scientific projects have been proposed by the receiving institution, which can be applied for European funds in the field of culture and education in the coming period. Cooperation has been defined, which will include specific art exhibitions in Sofia and Niš.

First prize for chamber music students

Chamber trio consisting of first-year students: Andjelija Djak-flute, Dušan Vinkic-flute and Aleksa Savić-piano, in the class of prof. Ana Veličković – Igić, won I prize (97.83 points) in V category of chamber music, at 25th International Competition “Tahir Kulenović”, which is held in Valjevo.

Filip Cincarević (III year), Strahinja Marković (I year), Nikola Pavlović (master student), Bratislav Djordjević (I year) and Petar Pavlović (I year) performed at the concert of the Faculty of Arts, University of Niš students, in the class of Stevan Spalević, PhD, Assoc. prof. on 13th February 2023 in the “Artget” Gallery in Belgrade, organized by Belgrade Cultural Center. The program included works by J. S. Bach, J. Haydn, F. Chopin, S. Rachmaninov and O. Messianic.

The success of the Department of Applied Arts students at the prize competition of the Institute for Public Health of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanović Batut”

At the prize competition for a poster by art faculties students, with the topic of prevention of the use of tobacco and nicotine products, of the Institute for Public Health of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanović Batut”, the Department of Applied Arts students won four additional awards and seven participations in the final exhibition.

The posters of the Department of Applied Arts students, Petar Pejić, Danica Ćirić, Ksenija Stanković and Tamara Terentić, the third and fourth year students and master students, won additional awards at the competition of the Institute for Public Health of Serbia, while the posters of students: Vera Nikolić, Jana Novaković, Andrijana Jovanović, Marija Milosavljević, Marta Pejčić, Sara Stojanović and Jovana Milojević were included in the exhibition official selection.

The poster competition was announced by the Office for Smoking Prevention at the Center for Health Promotion of the Institute for Public Health of Serbia “Dr Milan Jovanović Batut”, for students of artistic higher education institutions, on the topic of prevention of the use of tobacco and nicotine products. Posters by the Applied Arts Department students of the Faculty of Arts in Niš will be exhibited as part of the award-winning and selected works of students of art faculties in Serbia.

The “ACADEMY MEETINGS” project was held in the period from 25th – 27th December 2022 in Kragujevac, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Information of the Republic of Serbia, at the initiative of prof. MA Vojislav Spasić and the organization of the associations: “Prestonica” (Capital), “Telok” and the association “Archangels” from Kragujevac.

The meeting of the Art Academies, Faculties of Musical Arts, of the Universities of Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, North Macedonia, Montenegro a nd Slovenia started with a meeting (round table) in the Rectorate of the University of Kragujevac, where all professors presented themselves to the rector of the University of Kragujevac, prof. PhD Nenad Filipović. The first project of this type in our region was successfully implemented. The project aimed to create cooperation with higher education institutions from the former Yugoslavia area, as well as respective professors and students.

Possibilities of launching various initiatives and progress in this area as well as achieving mutual cooperation were discussed.

As part of this project, professors Saša Arsenkov, MA, Katarina Simonović Ivanković, MA, Berislav Jerković, PhD, Milica Stojadinović, PhD, Senka Nedeljković, PhD, and Vojislav Spasić, MA, held master classes as well as a series of concerts and a round table in which the Music Academy students and soprano Anastasia Holtz took part. The topic of the round table was “Introduction and cooperation of solo singers”. In addition to lectures and concerts, Kragujevac audience was presented with a book by ethnomusicologist Trajče Malinov, MA.

The master classes and concerts were supported by piano accompanists Petar Marković and Boško Stojadinović. All concerts and courses were held in the “House of Djura Jakšić” gallery.
