Project EXCHANGE 2013: NIŠ – YORK

“The exchange” is part of the celebration of the Edict of Milan and a way of strengthening relationship between York and Niš. 24 (Department of Music, University of York, England), conducted by prof. dr William Brooks, and the Faculty of Arts, University of Niš, with the dean prof. dr Suzana Kostić, organized and coordinated the cooperation in the exchange of musical expression, mutually presenting music programs in two cities, in Niš, Serbia, and in York, England.

Awarding Nemanja Radulović with the honorary doctorate

The world-renowned violinist Nemanja Radulović was awarded with the Honorary Doctorate on Tuesday, June 4th 2013. The honorary doctorate of the University of Niš Nemanja Radulović was awarded by the Rector of the University of Niš, Dragan Antić, PhD, at the ceremony especially organized on this occasion.

Master class course for violin held by Nemanja Radulović

Violinist Nemanja Radulović held a two-day master class course for violin, on 4th and 5th June 2013 at the Faculty of Arts in Niš. On the first day, the course was attended by the participants of the course and the second day of the course was open to the public and it was held in a crowded Concert Showroom of the Faculty of Arts.

Annual exhibition of students’ works of the Departments of Visual and Applied arts 2013.

The opening of the annual exhibition of students’ works of the Department of Fine Arts and the Department of Applied Arts was held on Tuesday, June 4th 2013, in the premises of the Department of Fine Arts (Art School Niš, No.6, Prvomajska Street) at 12 pm, and in the premises of the Department of Applied Arts (Primary School Njegoš, No.60, Pantelejska Street) at 1 pm.

The award ceremony to Mila Polić, the winner of the competiton for the logo design of the Emperor Constantine the Great

Mila Polić, a student of the final year at the study program of graphic design, is the winner of a competition for the logo design of the Emperor Constantine that was established by the company IDEA doo Belgrade. On the occasion of the city celebration, the winner was awarded by the Dean of the Faculty of Arts, Suzana Kostić, PhD, on Sunday, June 2nd 2013, in the amphitheater at the quay, in the presence of Regional Director of IDEA doo, Slobodan Titin.

“Spirit of Japan in Niš” – Demonstration of calligraphy, ikebana and Koto music

The Embassy of Japan in the Republic of Serbia, in cooperation with the Faculty of Arts in Niš, organized a demonstration of ikebana (Japanese skill of flower arranging), calligraphy (the art of beautiful writing) and Japanese koto music (Japanese harp). The demonstration was held on Wednesday, 29th May 2013, at 8 pm at the Faculty of Arts Concert Showroom in Niš.

First international student complementary piano competition

First International Student complementary piano competition was held from 24th to 26th May, 2013. 25 students performed at the competition. On Friday, 24th May 2013, a pianist, Stevan Spalević, Assistant at the main subject– Piano, performed at the ceremonial opening of the competition.

Operetta “Die Fledermaus”

After 50 years, and thorough preparations, the premiere performance of the operetta Die Fledermaus, of the refurbished Niš opera occurred on May 22nd 2013 at the National Theatre in Niš. Setting the first opera performance in Niš, after a few decades pause, involved primarily relying on home artists. At the theatrical and musical spectacle of the year, which involved almost 300 performers, all of them, except the conductor Dejan Savić, were practically from Niš.

Master class course for guitar – Vesna Petković, MA

The Faculty of Arts in Niš organized the master class course for guitar (from 17th to 20th April, 2013), held by Vesna Petković, MA, Associate Professor at the Faculty of Arts in Niš. At the end of the master class course, the active participants performed at the final concert.
