VI International Student Complementary Piano Competition will be held in Niš from 26th to 28th May 2018. The aim of the competition is to encourage the motivation and affirmation of young artists, as well as to encourage their personal creative potentials through performing. The competition, organized by the Faculty of Arts in Niš, will be held at the Faculty of Arts Concert Showroom (Knjaževačka 2a street).
This year, the Competitors are judged by the following expert jury: IRENA KOFMAN, President (Florida Atlantic University, Boca Raton, Florida USA), ANTONI LICHOMANOW, Member (The Fryderyk Chopin University of Music Warsaw, Poland), IRIS HAEFELY SUBLET, Member (Faculty of Arts Bern, Switzerland), TATIANA SHUREV, Member (St. Agnes Academy, Key Biscayne, Florida, USA), MILENA RAJKOVIĆ, Member (Faculty of Arts in Niš, Serbia), BISERA VELJKOVIĆ, Member (Faculty of Arts in Niš, Serbia) and DRAGAN TOMIĆ, Member (Faculty of Arts in Niš, Serbia)- participating in the jury when performing author compositions.
Within the Competition, lectures will be organized, which will be held on Friday, 25th May 2018, at 1 pm in the Faculty of Arts Concert Showroom. Lectures will be delivered by Tatjana Shurev, PhD on the topic “Music as a tool of 21st Century Culture Education in the USA” and Irena Kofman, PhD on the topic “Differences between Russian and American Schools in the Approach to Teaching Piano”.
The Competition opening ceremony will be held on Saturday, 26th May 2018, at 8 pm in the Faculty of Arts Concert Showroom, featuring the piano duo of Irena Kofman and Tatiana Shurev from the USA, accompanied by the Concertante Chamber Orchestra and Iris Haefely Sublet, the pianist from Switzerland. The entrance to the concert is free.
A concert of the piano duo of Marta Kržič and Benjamin Govže from Slovenia will be held on Sunday, 27th May 2018, at 8 pm, in the Faculty of Arts Concert Showroom. The entrance to the concert is free.
At the Competition closing ceremony, on Monday, 28th May 2018, after the awarding ceremony of the diplomas to the participants, this year’s Competition awarded students will perform.
