Exhibition of student works “Small format 2024”

In order to mark the day of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, the Department of Fine Arts, together with the Faculty, is organizing an exhibition of student works “Small format 2024” this year, which will be shown on Monday, 14th October, from 6 pm in the University Gallery, University Library “Nikola Tesla” and the University Multimedia Hall.

 The exhibition opening will be marked by the performance of fourth-year guitar students: Melanija Stanković and Aleksandar Krstić, in the class of prof. Dragana Djordjević, who as guitarist duo will perform the work: Vito Nicola Paradiso – Milonga (Omaggio de Astor Piazzolla).

This project/exhibition is realized in Niš with the aim of continuing exhibition practice and cooperation with Faculties/Academies of Arts and cultural institutions, colleagues and students. 6 Faculties responded to the invitation to participate in the “Small Format 2024” event: Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, Faculty of Applied Arts Belgrade, Faculty of Fine Arts Belgrade, Faculty of Arts of the University of Pristina, with temporary seat in Zvečan – Kosovska Mitrovica, Faculty of Philology and Arts University in Kragujevac and hosted by the Faculty of Arts in Niš.

The exhibition includes over 150 student exhibitors and about thirty professors and mentors. More than 250 works will be presented to Niš audience.

The exhibition of student works “Small format” highlights the importance of the drawing technique and works that go out into the field of expanded possibilities. It includes both classical drawing techniques and exploratory experimental works of small format that expand the expressive possibilities of drawing on paper.

During the duration of the exhibition, the following programs are planned: lecture “Small format as a way of everyday thinking”, Ph.D. Mišo Filipovac, Assoc. prof, FILUM Kragujevac, then concerts by students from the Department of Musical Arts, Faculty of Arts in Niš, as well as guiding through the exhibition in cooperation with student exhibitors.

The exhibition is open to all visitors until October 25, 2024.

Accordion students won prestigious awards at Accordion World Cup in Italy

At 77th Accordion World Cup, which was held from 3rd to 10th September 2024 in Italy (Castelfidardo), the Faculty of Arts in Niš students won prestigious s awards.

Petar Bešović, won 3rd place in the competition of 33 competitors from all over the world. Petar is a fourth-year student of undergraduate academic studies at Faculty of Arts in Niš, in the class of Assoc. prof. Nikola Peković.

Also, Veljko Jović, a second-year student of undergraduate academic studies at Faculty of Arts in Niš won 4th place, and Stefan Dimitrijević, a a fourth-year student of undergraduate academic studies, won 5th place. Both students are in the class of full prof. Miljan Bjeletić.

The competition was great, especially in Masters category, where the largest number of competitors were registered, and in which our students also competed.

This competition is one of the most prestigious world events for the accordion, it is an official partner of UNESCO, and every year it is held in a different country.

With these successes, the continuity of winning the prestigious awards of the Accordion Department of the Faculty of of Arts in Niš Music Department, at the biggest world competitions, once again confirmed the highest quality of pedagogy and performance of professors and students thus.

Special recognition to Accordion Department of the Faculty of Arts in Niš

At XI classical music festival “Kustendorf Classic” held from 31.08. until 03.09. in Mećavnik (Mokra Gora), students in the class of prof. Nikola Peković- Marija Ratkov, Petar Bešović and Nemanja Ćamagić presented themselves in the best light. 35 young musicians from Serbia, Russia and Belarus performed in the competitive part of the festival. The contestants were evaluated by an international jury, whose decision was to award a special prize to Accordion Department at the Faculty of Arts in Niš.

Exhibition of works by students from the Department of Applied Arts at the Center for Culture and Art in Aleksinac

The exhibition of student works entitled Creative Vectors will be opened on Tuesday, 16th July 2024 at 7 pm in the Art Gallery of the Center for Culture and Art in Aleksinac and will last until 12th August. Students from the Department of Applied Arts of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, in the first year of undergraduate academic studies, get to know the basic principles of graphic design, nurturing their talent, temperament and individuality. Dedicated work on the Form and Design course, in addition to improving technical skills, allows students to grow into motivated and inspired young people ready to face complex tasks in the field of Graphic Design.

Semi-recitals of the guitar students of the Faculty of Arts at “VI Meetings of guitar students of music faculties and academies in the region” in Novi Sad

At the recently concluded “VI Meetings of guitar students of faculties and academies of music in the region” in Novi Sad, guitar students of the Faculty of Arts in Niš, Aleksandar Krstić (III year- UAS) in the class of prof. Slobodan Milivojević and Damir Blagojević (MAS) in the class of prof. Miloš Janjić, MA, presented the Faculty of Arts with successful semi-recitals in the Atrium of the Museum of Vojvodina. This event, organized by the Academy of Arts in Novi Sad, is traditionally attended by representatives of faculties from Serbia, and this year the “Giuzeppe Tartini” Conservatory from Trieste and the Faculty of Music from Szeged also participated.

Exhibition of students of the Department of Applied Arts in the Gallery of National Museum in Vranje: Letter by letter…

At the exhibition “Letter by letter…”, works of typographic fonts and modern Cyrillic initials by students of the Faculty of Arts, University of Niš were presented. This exhibition brings together the results of the work of students of III and IV year, as well as the master studies in the course of Letter. The exhibited works reflect the wealth of creativity, technical skill and research spirit of young designers, who developed and improved their typographic solutions over two semesters. The works span a wide range of styles, from classic serif and sans-serif fonts to experimental and innovative designs. Mentors: Assoc. prof. DA Biljana Stanković and assistant Marta Pejčić. The exhibition opened on 28th June in the Gallery of National Museum in Vranje.

The participation of prof. dr Danijela Stojanović and prof. dr Nataša Nagorni at International Seminar on Harmony and Polyphony in Skopje

On the occasion of the international cooperation between the University of Niš, Faculty of Arts in Niš and Europa Prima International University, the Faculty of Music in Skopje, at the personal invitation of the dean-prof. Ljupče Koskarov, PhD, Danijela Stojanović, PhD, Assoc. prof, and Nataša Nagorni Petrov, PhD, Assoc. prof at the Faculty of Arts in Niš participated in the International Seminar on Harmony and Polyphony, under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of North Macedonia. On 20th June 2024, in the concert gallery of the Faculty of Music in Skopje, the teachers held a lecture on the topic MEETING OF HARMONY AND POLYPHONY IN CONSTANTINE’S FUGUE BY DRAGAN TOMIĆ, which was about looking at the different elements of harmony and polyphony and their application in contemporary creativity. The discussion after the lecture contributed significantly to the interpretation of harmonic and polyphonic aspects. On that occasion, the rector of the International University, prof. dr Aleksandr Trajkovski and Dean of the Faculty of Music, Prof Ljupče Koskarov, PhD, as a sign of cooperation, presented several important publications of our Faculty.

The Faculty of Arts in Niš received a violin handmade by violinist Mirko Vukeljić from Doboj (Bosnia and Herzegovina) as a gift

Dear students and colleagues, we are extremely pleased to inform you that the Faculty of Arts has become the owner, i.e. received a violin handmade by violinist Mirko Vukeljić (Bosnia and Herzegovina) as permanent ownership. Honorable Mr. Vukeljić dedicated this instrument to the students of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Niš. On behalf of the students and staff of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Niš, we thank you for this valuable gift that will be meaningful to students and on which generations of students will be able to progress. The instrument was taken over by the vice-dean for artistic and scientific work, full prof. 100 points to Lazar Mutavdžić at International Competition “OCHRID PEARLS”

Lazar Mutavdžić, a third-year violin student at the Faculty of Arts, University of Niš, in the class of prof. Marija Rajković, MA, won I prize with 100 points in C category for soloists and, as a finalist, won the third cash prize in the category of all instruments and categories at the International competition of young musicians “OCHRID PEARLS” European Union of music competitions for youth. He received a standing ovation in the competition final and will perform in Macedonia as a soloist with the symphony orchestra from Bitola with virtuoso works for violin and symphony orchestra. In the final, Lazar performed the first movement of the concerto for violin and piano by P. I. Tchaikovsky in D major.
